[Expired] Warning: PhotoPlog and vB 4.0

Warning: PhotoPlog and vB 4.0 are not compatible. Tests will be done as soon as possible, around the time of the vB 4.0 Gold release, to see what needs to change to make PhotoPlog Pro compatible with vB 4.0 if possible. No time frame at this point for the Lite version.

If you upgrade to vB 4.0, you will break PhotoPlog, whether Lite or Pro, so if you are going to upgrade, turn off the gallery via the ACP -> PhotoPlog -> General Settings and do not turn it on again until after a vB 4.0 compatible version is released. Again no time frame for the Lite version, and for the Pro version, it will be as soon as it gets done.

Support for PhotoPlog on vB 4.0 will not be offered until after a vB 4.0 compatible version of PhotoPlog Pro is released. At that time, the Lite version will be examined to see whether it will be made to be compatible as well.

Please do not repeatedly ask whether it is done yet. What is planned is to get Pro done as soon as possible, and given that the templates need a redo, and code will likely need to be changed, this is not going to be a half day job.

It is good news, that there will be a vB4 version of PP.

It would be very helpfull if you could give us a roadmap - when PP for vb4 will be released aproximately. Many of us will update to vb4 and many of us will probably do some kind of roadmap for their boards.

What I have read is that vB4 will be out in December 09 - what do you think when will PP4 be finished?

Did you happen to get a Beta-version (should be available for all coders)?

Helmut71 11-01-2009 02:45 PM

hmm..

Today I recieved this email:

Quote:

Your access to the paid subscription "PhotoPlog Pro" is about to expire.

If you have selected a recurring subscription you will be automatically billed for the renewal, else to renew this subscription you must visit http://www.photoplog.com/forum/payments.php

If you do not extend your subscription, access will be removed.

All the best,
PhotoPlog
may I ask again..is there a timeline when PP pro for vb4 will be finished aproximately? I think it would be fair to know this before renewing my subscription...

Morgan 11-03-2009 03:35 PM

The pro templates need to be redone, and code will need to be changed, but there is no timeline for how long it will take. If this makes you feel uncertain about renewing, then just wait until the vB4 version of PhotoPlog gets done.

Helmut71 11-11-2009 05:13 AM

Hi Morgan.

It would be very helpfull to have a timeline - most of the vb Users are in trouble, don't know which add ons will be converted, which won't, don't if they should stick to vb 3.8 or upgrade.

I don't want an exact date, I just want some kind of hint - e.g. "is a matter of days or weeks", "won't come out til summer 2010" ore something similar.

As Photoplog is a paid add on this would be fair.

Arjan 11-13-2009 12:58 PM

A little update: Beta 3 is released to customers who have allready bought a vB4 license.
That would make it possible to start testing and upgrading PhotoPlog I hope.

And I assume that Morgan needs to have a good look at vB4 before he can tell anything about how much time it will take to make PhotoPlog compatible.

Sworm 11-22-2009 11:33 AM

This vb4 release have done a lot of bad issue! :(

If photoplog will be released for vb4 i'll repay a subscription as well.

snerd 11-25-2009 06:01 AM

Yes, I have the VB beta 4 up also, and already miss my PhotoPlog gallery. I'll definitely renew my subscription if and when you decide to support it.

Helmut71 12-14-2009 06:43 AM

now that vb4 RC2 is provided and the Gold version is coming very soon - is there any news about photoplog and vb4?

ibaker 12-15-2009 10:43 PM

Another one who will renew subscription as soon as PP for 4 is available

Hello,

I know you don't have a timeline, but can we expect to see a vB4 version during the 1st trimester 2010?

I'd love to know the answer to this as well?

Thanks You,

MrD 12-23-2009 09:45 AM

Hi,
i think Morgan have a lot of Mods, that will convert to vb4.
Maybe PP and Gars ;)

snerd 12-23-2009 10:30 AM

I'm having PhotoPlog withdrawals. Shakes, tremors. Anybody got anything for it? :D

yjhys 12-25-2009 06:23 AM

waiting for the new version

cornishman 12-25-2009 03:26 PM

Prioritisation--Just wondering

Morgan, I'm fishing here a little.
Breaking this question down into two components;
How are you going to prioritise firstly, the softwares you are going to upgrade (Photoplog/GARS/GAL), secondly, in which order you do the upgrades?

no, I'm not fishing for timelines, but from any answers you may give to the questions above I can do some deducing
http://www.cornishserver.com/01.gif

p.s. I do have licenses for all three :D (I'm Gothic over on the geek site)

rbc 12-29-2009 07:28 PM

Are you ready to loose all the photoplog uploaded images? I want wait again,
photoplog is not a small addon and it is need of a lot of time to reder it vb4 compatible.

I'll wait all this month.

Thanks

tommeyboy 01-05-2010 07:45 PM

I too will renew if PP is available for vb4.

Billiards-Talk 01-05-2010 11:59 PM

It would be nice to have some kind of answer.

Should we go else where or should we wait a small amount of time.

snerd 01-06-2010 12:38 AM

Hi'ya Morgan! Yeah, please let us know if you even plan to update the gallery, so we can wait for you. If you are not going to do it, let us know. Thanks!

cornishman 01-08-2010 03:48 PM

I have to admit that the almost total lack of information is frustrating.
If I failed to keep my own customers informed I would almost certainly be out of business now.

beduino 01-08-2010 07:17 PM

my license is valid, I wish move my site to vB 4 and I can't ...
really any information is a good policy

yjhys 01-10-2010 05:12 AM

I'am sure Morgan is very busy and on the way out ,just be patient.

My, you are quite the optimist aren't you?! :D

cosy 01-10-2010 08:58 PM

ETA for a compatible version whit VB4 ?

like title say, When?

cornishman 01-13-2010 08:00 PM

Information please Morgan

We accept you must be very busy, but it would take very little of your time to say a few simple words.
A: Are you planning to upgrade:
1: Photoplog?
2: GARS? and
3: GAL?

B: If you do plan on upgrading, is it a work in progress (are you currently working on it/them?)

We don't expect a timeline, that's asking too much, but some indication is imperitive for some of us.
Thankyou

PhotoPlog Pro is getting ported to work with vB4 but it is not done yet. Not all features may be portable though, like the gallery results that appear on a forum search and maybe other things. It is not a small endeavor to get PhotoPlog to work with vB4, as every single PhotoPlog template needs to be changed, and there are over 50 of them, not to mention the PHP code changes that are necessary. Attached is a screenshot of PhotoPlog Pro partially working on vB4, but as you can see in the picture the templates still need work. Unlike some other add-on sites, or even vbulletin.com, everything here is done by yours truly, so it does take time, of which I have less than I had before. So nope, I can't give you an expected release date, there are just too many variables, but now you have a screensot to see what it looks like today.

Morgan, nice to see you appear. I'd like to purchase the license once you finish the project

beduino 01-15-2010 04:06 PM

Thanks for setting our minds at rest that work is being done to port it, it's much appreciated. I too will renew my sub once the pro version is available.

abodde 01-19-2010 03:27 PM

its a lot of work , but i know that you can done it

Billiards-Talk 01-26-2010 09:49 PM

Thats great news.

I was just about to start porting the light version. I will hold off now.

nfn 01-28-2010 01:38 PM

Hello Morgan,

Can the gallery tab in profile modification be included in the default product?

This is a nice addon to the product that I would like to maintain in vB4.

Thanks!

beduino 02-10-2010 03:03 PM
