Default Browser incompatibility

I posted this in the vB.org thread. Sorry about that. I didn't realize that all support goes here now.

Other than this small problem, the program is fantastic. My users LOVE it.

Hmm, not sure why it'd be browser incompatibility. For example, the messages usually appear if there is no $photoplog_file_info or $photoplog_comment_info available.

When do you see the messages? As what usergroup? An example link?

Hi,

I see the messages (when in IE) when I go to add a comment to a photo, when I edit a previous upload, or when I edit a comment itself. Also when deleting a comment.

It happens in both the Admin usergroup (me), and Registered Users userground (the default one). Those are the only two active usergroups. No moderators or other accounts. Well, guests, but they can only view the gallery, they can't add comments or upload or anything.

Not sure I can link to this specifically.

For example...
For this error message:
Sorry, 2ndCitizen: No Item or Item Not Currently Editable - Check Back Later

The browser location says:

http://forums.secondcitizen.com/photoplog/edit.php

I'm really not sure what that would show for you if you clicked it.

The weird thing is...the program works. What I mean is... Even when I get the error messages, the edits, comments, edit of comments etc etc still take place.

I get the error message, but next time I view the file I see that my changes did happen.

It's a pet peeve really. It works fine...it's just a matter of confusion for the noobs that might try to use it and think it's not working (even when it is) when they see the error messages in IE.

Firefox works beautifully with this. Can't speak for other browsers like Netscape, Opera etc though. I don't have 'em and haven't tested.

When you click through the demo on this site while using IE, do you get those messages?

I tried both demos, just to see, and both of them give me entirely different errors when I tried to add a comment and hit "submit".

Attached pic for reference.

Here, I don't even get the text error message like I do on my site, just a blank warning popup from IE.

The blank warning popup should have appeared in any browser because of a missing phrase group. There is a fix for it in this thread. I haven't been able to get the text messages to appear while using IE though. Not sure if it's luck. Are your PhotoPlog templates the default ones, or have they been edited?

Code:
Content visible to registered users only.
I don't get the blank warning popup on my forums. That was only when I was testing it here. So I guess I'm okay.

The only PhotoPlog template that's edited is: photoplog_upload_form

I added information in there to let people know what file types they could upload.

I just discovered another issue:

When uploading files in IE, once you hit submit the screen just refreshes and you get the file upload template again. No error message, and the file uploads okay, but it looks like it didn't do anything, even though it did.

I can't remember now, but I'm pretty sure when you upload successfully you go straight to the new entry?

Also, the IE error messages happen when deleting a file too, I found out tonight. Deletes the file okay, but the error comes up and makes you think it didn't happen.

*shrugs* Sorry... I don't know what the deal is. It's annoying that I'm the only one getting this apparantly.

The blank popup was happening to some people who set 'Minimum Characters Per Post' to a value greater than zero, but that's not causing the issue you're having with IE. When you go to delete a file, what is the error message you see?

Awaiting feedback, moved to troubleshooting.
