Default The one-year extension option

When i dont buy that, does it mean i dont get any support after a year and i can't download any upgrades anymore ?
But i can still keep using it.

And if there are newer version avaible after 1 year, can i buy an one-year extension at that time or do i have to buy it within the 12 months period ?

TIA

Ed

You can buy it whenever you want, i.e., you do not need to buy it within the 12-month period.
